Trumpet Instructor
Trumpet lessons are offered to students of all ages at the rate of $23 per half hour and are held at students’ homes. Students may bring in music from school, but the majority of lessons will focus on additional materials that will be provided. You will find a calendar on this page with dates and times for current lessons.
SCHEDULING
Lessons are currently being scheduled for summer of 2011. Lessons will be on Monday or Tuesday from 3pm – 9:30pm, and will be scheduled in 40 minute intervals (for travel time). If you would like to change a time, change a date, or sign up for lessons, please email me at: allissa@allissa.mikejcarter.com, or call me at 224-764-0592. For more information on the present schedule of availability, please email. Students are highly encouraged to try lessons if he/she is interested because of the individual instruction and attention that can help supplement and add on to current instruction in school.
GOAL
The goal of lessons is to give the student a solid foundation from which they can build upon through working on buzzing basics, tonguing, lip flexibility, range, technique, etudes, and trumpet repertoire. Each lesson will consist of concentrated doses of each area, focusing on a balanced approach to learning trumpet, with high, yet acheivable, goals for each student. While there may seem to be many topics to cover, each lesson is catered to the needs and goals of each student, and is always focused on helping the student learn how to practice, learn new skills, and learn how to have fun playing the trumpet!
MATERIALS
Students are encouraged to purchase their own copy of H.L. Clarke’s Technical Studies for the Trumpet (Cornet), Earl D. Iron’s Twenty Seven Groups of Exercises for Trumpet, and Arban’s Method for the Cornet/Trumpet. While this is not a requirement, it is highly suggested for those students who believe they will continue lessons for an extended period of time. These books are something students will use throughout lessons, but also throughout later grades and into higher education if they choose to do so! If students choose not to purchase these books, materials will still be provided for daily use.
